Basic Pool Maintenance

Are you a new pool owner or someone who prefers brief, to-the-point explanations? This is the right article for you. Pool maintenance doesn’t have to be overwhelming. When you stick to a schedule and follow these basic pool care tips, your pool will be ready for swimming whenever you are.

Pool Care 101:

  • Create a routine. Keep your pool care on a weekly and monthly basis.
  • Empty your skimmer baskets regularly.
  • Balance pool water.
  • Backwash your pool’s filters.
  • Keep your pool equipment clean.
  • Vacuum the bottom of your pool when necessary.
  • Test the pool water with test strips or bring in a sample to Ask the Pool Guy.
  • If you have one, clean the salt cell chlorinator.
  • Make sure no repairs are needed on pool equipment such as pumps, filters, chlorinators, and cleaners.
