Cloudy Pool=No Fun

GRN Gunite Pool CloudyHaving cloudy pool water is one of the largest issues when owning a pool. It is caused naturally by the particles suspended in the water. These particles can be a remnant or a result of many things: dirt, dust, lint, leaves, bugs, and other organic materials. Many particles are brought into the pool from the swimmer and the outside air contributes to the ‘cloudy’ look as well.

Fortunately, there is a solution.  There are several products that will help you eliminate your cloudy swimming pool water.

Aluminum Sulfate

With an aluminum sulfate product, particles in the pool are ‘trapped’ due to a gel-like precipitate that is from the aluminum sulfate. It then forms small bundles and those bundles settle on the bottom of the pool collecting all the particles that are giving the pool a cloudy appearance. The sediment can then be simply vacuumed out.

Polymers

The polymers have a similar effect to the pool water as aluminum sulfate. Polymers are unique because their molecular structures attract smaller particles, forming clumps in the pool which can then be vacuumed up; similarly to the aluminum sulfate. Those who wish to clarify slightly cloudy water would want to use a polymer rather than aluminum sulfate. It is quicker and simpler to use. However, if your pool water is really dirty—one dose of aluminum sulfate may be the best solution.
