They save tons of time and effort and seem to magically remove organic and inorganic materials from your pool. There are three categories of pool cleaners: robotic/automatic, pressure cleaners, and suction cleaners. They are all fairly effective; but depending on your pool’s individual needs, one might work better than the other.
Robotic Cleaners
Robotic/automatic cleaners are considered the most ‘advanced’ of the three. They work completely independent of your pool’s pump and filter system to clean everything out of your pool with the least amount of actual physical effort. Some robotic cleaners even have their own filtration system- giving your pool water extra filtration as well as vacuuming.
These type of pool cleaners are cordless and therefore limit the amount of wear and tear on your pump and filter systems.
Robotic cleaners can even be programmed or controlled by a remote, making it virtually painless to clean your pool. This can be a more expensive option, but it allows the vacuum to be faster and more efficient.
Pressure Cleaners
Pressure cleaners are the best mid-price option for pool owners. These cleaners work with your pool’s pump system and clean the pool with a combination of suction and also jet action. The water pressure resulting from the pump moves the cleaner around the pool; thus giving the cleaner its name.
The big advantage of pressure cleaners is that they come with their own attached bag. The bag collects dirt and debris from the pool, which means it does not wear our your pool’s filter system or skimmer box.
Suction Cleaners
These cleaners are the least expensive. Suction cleaners are fixed to the pool’s pump and are similar to an underwater vacuum cleaner. They are attached to your pool’s filter system and they deposit the dirt and debris from the pool into the skimmer box, which can cause extra work. A benefit of suction cleaners is they can be used in both above and in-ground pools. They are also easy to use and easy to install.
