Swimming pool leaks and Dye Testing

dye testDye Testing

If you discover a potential problem area such as a crack or tear that is visible in your pool you may wan to perform a dye test just to be sure. These convenient syringe style testers allow you to identify whether suspect leak areas are losing water or not. They are pre-charged with a special concentrated dye that holds together underwater. The syringe style design along with a 6 inch flexible plastic needle allows for precise dye placement without creating unwanted currents or diluting dye.  You can use the dye test in just about any area of your pool, next to screws in return fittings, cracks in your skimmer, or tears in the liner.

If a crack is leaking however and draws dye it should be patched or professionally repaired. Most dye testing can be done from the pool deck, however you will eventually have to get into the pool with a dive mask to completely inspect the shell or liner for leaks.
