Vinyl Liner Pool basics

Traditional Vinyl-liner pools have been known as “package” or “packaged” pools, because they are often prefabricated, and arrive on site in a package complete with all necessary components. The liners are made of heavy gauge vinyl, typically 20mm or more in thickness. Liners are carefully manufactured to precisely fit the shape of the pool, and can be custom made to fit even the most elaborate pool shapes. When the walls are all in place, the liner is carefully positioned and unfolded (shown), usually in the deep end of the pool. It is run through the bead track, and held in place with a vacuum, which is either taped behind the liner or run down through the pool’s skimmer. With the liner held in place by suction, the pool is filled until the water level reaches about 6 inches deep in the shallow end. At this point, creases are smoothed out, and holes are cut for lights and drains. Finally, the pool is filled to capacity.
