A salt cell is typically going to need to be cleaned/reset every season. Use the manufacturer guidelines to clean with a solution of muratic acid and water. The sensors also go bad from time to time, depending on your unit they may be able to be replaced independent of the unit, or if they are built in the unit or controller may need to be replaced.
If you can bring in a sample of your water to a pool store for testing get the actual reading of the salt, or use test strips to assess that in fact there is enough.
You might have enough salt in there to just get to the minimal reading on the unit, so it would still call for salt until it is more in it’s “happy” range. You could also have a malfunctioning unit.
Once you know your salt reading either contact the manufacturer or where you purchased the unit for possible warranty, or replacement.
We’ve seen cells last 5+ years, and we have seen some that have glitches and warranty issues within months of installation.
Good luck!
