Copper Main drain Pipe?

1.34K viewsConstructionRenovation

Hi,
I see you’re in Michagan and I’m in CA. Too bad for me.

Question. We have a 1960’s gunite in-ground Anthony pool with 1.5″ copper to main drain, skimmer, and returns.

If I wanted to DIY replace the copper with Sch 40 PVC 2″…

1. How would I replace copper to the main drain.. it’s probably into the rebar and gunite i’m guessing and even if it wasn’t who could dig 8′ under a pool?

2. How would I connect the new pipe 2″ pvc to a return fitting that’s for 1.5″ copper?

Thank you for the consideration. Peter.
