Pools require fill water for a multitude of reason: they’re new, they’ve been remodeled, too much splashing fun, there may be a leak, or just plain evaporation. Choosing the proper fill water for your pool is essential in order to prevent out-of-balance water. There are different ways to fill up a swimming pool. In most cases, hose water is adequate; however, some pool owners have trouble with hard or well water. If you do have a high iron or mineral content in your fill water, there is a product we recommend, Ferri-Iron Tabs. Filling a swimming pool with an improper water source such as a fire hydrant or outdoor water can lead to dirty or cloudy water that is seemingly impossible to balance.
If you think your fill water is questionable, we highly recommend you hire a water truck to fill your pool. Water trucks can hold up to 9,000 gallons of water. The water is clean and of great quality; this will lessen your chances of complications. Dealing with cloudy and unbalanced water can be a headache, especially if the source is the water itself. If you are needing to fill your pool completely it may take two truckloads to complete. If you just need to top off your pool, hose water may do the trick as long as the majority of the pool is filled with clean, high-quality water. If you have any reservations about your water source we recommend you go with a water truck. It will save you loads of time, energy, and money in the end if you are using a poor water source.
