I have an 18-yr old large concrete/marcite pool in North Carolina with a full concrete deck (4″ concrete nose and all) that I want to refurbish. The concrete deck is very rough after multiple pressure-washings and discolors/mildews quickly. The nose is particularly rough. I want to change it to use bluestone coping and somehow resurface or coat the deck (which is quite large, something like 1800 sq. ft of concrete), ideally short of jacking it all out and pouring a new one! The pool has a ceramic tile waterline which is in good shape and I hope to keep. The marcite is mechanically in good shape but is discolored. So I’m wondering what the options are for resurfacing the marcite (sanding, replacing, heavy-duty cleaning).
Thanks for any advice you can give me.

An acid wash is the best option for discolored marcite. If you try any sanding or replacing you are in many thousands of dollars (and after sanding would have to refinish). If an acid wash can take care of the discoloration (which it usually can) that is the route to go.
