After you add floc vacuum on waste so the large particles go directly out of the pool. You may have to add additional water, but that will allow you to get it out of the water.I’d also look at your filter, it sounds like it could use some cleaning (depending on what type of filter it is). A cartridge filter may need a good cleaning or new cartridges, a sand filter will need a sand change every 3-5 years, and a de filter should have a good cleaning once a year, and a more thorough grid cleaning when necessary.
