If you are having trouble priming your pump, do a couple of things:
Make sure your pump gasket is in place. Use a water based lubricant such as Magic Lube to ensure a tight fit.
Make sure no air is getting into your system, a loose plug can cause this.
Clean the filter and/or backwash if sand or DE – a clogged filter can delay the priming process.
Put the water hose in the skimmer of the pool to force water through – also check to make sure the water level is high enough in the pool that the skimmer isn’t getting any air or a whirlpool effect.
