Pool liner ripped around main drain after closing pool

Sometimes things happen. Its possible the HRV opened, we have seen it happen before. We haven't seen them on a vinyl liner pool however, since groundwater would float a liner it's not often used here....

Do you need step/bench tile markers?

Some do tile borders, some don't. If you have people coming to use the pool, point out the benches and they'll likely avoid them. It's not necessary to add the tile, more of a personal preference.

adhesive removal

If good adhesive was used it's likely going to be very hard to remove. You can always get new vinyl and cut a larger patch to go over the old one if the concern is that it has lifted or opened back up.

Stabilizer sock in pump basket

It probably went through and got stuck in the filter. You can open up the filter and see if you can locate it - as long as it's not stuck in the pump impeller. It may be wise to call a professional out.

Yes, using pea stone in the filter is a common base layer. Though it's not completely necessary and the filter could be filled exclusively with sand. So that is up to you!

Inground Step Backfill / Repair Questions

We build pools in Michigan and we don't use the thermal air gap. We do experience settling of backfill however. Yes, add backfill to prevent further step damage, it's the only way to remedy this situation.
