My cell doesn’t seem to be working. It produces a very low amount of chlorine. Being newer to pools I somehow remembered the ratio wrong and have cleaned the cell a few times at 1:2 ratio at least.

Yes, you could have damaged the coating on the plates inside the salt cell. It may need to be replaced, and then only clean with a weaker solution (per manufacturer directions) as the cell indicates!
