EcoFINISH color is wiping off

I had ecoFINISH applied over my fiberglass pool last spring. The color is coming off…when I wipe the sides with a paper towel it turns blue. The treads on my pool vacuum have also turned blue and there are large light patches in the pool. What causes this and how is it fixed. As an fyi, my pool water has always been balanced and calcium has always been within range. Help!!!!

If ecoFinish is coming off it could have been applied without fully melting together, since the install process is blowing powered plastic through a flame and having it flash (melt/adhere) to the pool surface. If y ou are seeing light spots it could be it didn’t adhere to the surface of the fiberglass well enough, or the powder itself had variations in the mix and some spots are lighter/darker. It’s a cosmetic finish, so there is nothing wrong with the pool itself, other than it being a nuisance. I’d talk to the company that installed it for you to see what suggestions they may have. It could be as simple as them adding another layer of ecoFinish to the pool (which isn’t really simple – since all the equipment has to come back out/and all the prep work etc.), or living with the situation. It doesn’t sound like the water chemistry would have affected this situation.
