I am interested in finding out more about the hybrid vinyl /gunite pool. I currently have an inground vinyl that needs the liner replaced. I want to add a swim ledge but everyone I have talked to says I have to convert to gunite, which comes with a price quote of basically a new pool build, or add the step and cover it with vinyl. Your site clearly shows the opposite. What type of tracks / brackets do you use to secure and seal the liner to the gunite? Do you know of anyone that can do what you do in Orange County, CA? I appreciate any information you can share.
Hi – we don’t know of anyone other than our company here in Michigan that is doing the hybrid style of building pools. It is a relatively simple process for a company who knows how to build gunite and who knows how to build vinyl liner pools. The biggest caution is the prep work for the sealing of gunite to vinyl – and the use of standard step kits is what we use to get it done.
If you find someone who would like to learn or try it, our builder, Al Curtis is always happy to take questions and offer guidance if he can be of support.
