Katie Curtis Comments:
I found this on their website: ***Note: This product does not remove iron staining from pool surfaces. This product removes iron from in the water itself. You must pre-treat with an ascorbic acid based stain remover, and then treat with FerriTabs to completely remove staining and iron from your pool.***
The FerriTabs are not used to remove stains from the pool surface, they remove it from the water itself. Katie, you are correct – the pool should be treated with a stain remover that puts the iron back into solution and takes it off the pool surface. Then the FerriTabs can do their job and remove the iron particles from the water. Shocking will cause particulate to “scale” out of the water, be careful with that however, as that is what helps to cause the stains in the first place.
