I have a pentair Triton II sand filter with just a push/pull valve to change from filter to backwash. After backwashing and switching back to filter, the pump pushes dirty water in to the pool which would make sense as you are agitating the sand.
I don’t have a multiport valve that would allow me to rise and force water through the pump in the normal circulation direction which would settle the sand.
Any reccomendations on the best way to “rinse” after a backwash to avoid the dirty water going back in to the pool?
Yes, if you are able to you’ll want to replace the valve with a multiport, that’s the best option. If that isn’t possible, check your sand. It may be time for a sand change if the filter can’t clear the debris field effectively anymore. Another option is to try a longer backwash – and if you notice it has to be especially long it does point back to the sand needing a change.
