Pool Opening Chemicals

Our pool company came out to open our pool. (29,000 gal pool with salt chlorinator)
Discovered pool pump was broken. Equipment not working.
They billed me for the following.

1 qt ALGIMYCIN 2000
1 qt SEQUA-SIK
12 gal VERTEX CONCENTRATE 10% CHLORINE
1 qt Orenda PR-10000A Phospate Remover Concentrate
1 gal MURIATIC ACID

When equipment repairs were made almost 2 weeks later, no chlorine reading. Pool was cloudy and full of debris.

Would a reputable pool company put all those chemicals in the pool knowing that the pool equipment was not working?

Yes, even if equipment is not working, chemicals are usually added at the pool opening. A no chlorine reading later would be normal if chlorine was not added since the opening. You can add more if the pump is still broken, or if you have had it fixed or replaced you can go back to your normal pool care routine.

Yes, a reputable company would still add chemicals at an opening with equipment not functioning to prevent algae growth until the pool runs again. We suggest to homeowners to add more themselves daily until the pump resumes normal operation.
