Replacing Pentair Intelichlor with Ichlor

I currently have a Pentair Intelichlor IC40 salt cell that is in its 5th season of use. It either needs to be cleaned or replaced. My pool is irregular kidney shaped, with a volume of 14,500 gallons. My pool company wants to charge me $1200.00 to replace my Intelichlor IC40 with the same. After watching your video, I think this is something I can do. I am shopping for an iChlor kit online, what size would you recommend, and is it really as easy to install as it appears in the video? Thanks!

It does seem you need to replace the cell if it’s in its fifth season. Yes, it is relatively easy to replace. The benefit of having the pool company do it is the cell will be covered by the manufacturer warranty, which is not the case for units purchased online, so that will be a personal choice! Always replace like with like as long as it was chosen to be that size, it was likely done for a reason. You can change, but have a good reason for switching, and understand why the original was sized the way it was.
