Installed a new liner 15x24x4, and had the pool filled via water truck from a company I use for that purpose routinely. It looked pristine as you can imagine.
The next day I added 3 chlorine tabs to the skimmer, that’s it.
Within about 45 minutes, the water color turned a clear tea-greenish color. I thought maybe the water load had a higher than normal copper content, but testing at the pool store on their analyzer indicated 1%.
What’s your guess on this mystery? It’s never happened before and I’ve had the pool for 20 plus years and used the same chlorine as last season (same container.)
Thanks!
Hi – The water could have had some iron content, or your pool heater, if you have one could be leeching copper into the pool. Sequester the metals in the water with SeaKlear and see if it will filter out and clear up for you. Chlorine adds an increase in pH to the water, that could be contributing to the color change. In addition, likely the chlorine tablets going through the skimmer directly into the equipment, especially if you do have a heater is eating the copper immediately because of the strong chlorine running directly into the pipes. You’d be better off using a floating dispenser for your tablets.
Good luck!
