Spring will be here before you know it, it’s time to think about getting your pool ready!
Your pool can be a key asset to your home. Whether it’s while having a party, a family get together, a graduation celebration, or even an open house- people are going to be looking at your pool.
While one minor repair gets over looked, it can begin to affect other areas of your pool. Habitual maintenance checks and checks from a professional will ensure all areas of your pool are working correctly, and working correctly together. The last thing you want is the entire unit requiring replacement.
Advice for Spring
Look through these tips to help you keep your pool in top condition.
Spring
- Clean the pool from top to bottom, including vacuuming the walls and floors
- Check the water pump and schedule a full pool service by a licensed pool technician
- Examine the fittings and check for leaks
- Always check the chlorine and pH levels every two weeks
- Empty the skimmer basket
- Make sure the water level is halfway up the skimmer box opening
- Make sure the pressure gauge on the filter is not reading ‘backwash’
- Be sure to turn the pools lighting on for at least 30 minutes a week, this will prevent build-up of moisture in the lights
Summer
- Operate the water filtration system at least 10-12 hours a day
- Check the sanitizer levels daily
- Check the pH levels every other day
- Check the Total Alkalinity weekly
- Check the skimmer basket weekly
- Make sure to have your pool water checked at your local pool shop around every 2 weeks
- Backwash your sand or DE filter or remove and clean the cartridge from your cartridge filter
- Maintain water level
- Clean the pool and vacuum it regularly
With a bit of preparation and regular maintenance, your pool will be there and waiting for you to enjoy when the weather warms up!
