Many people who inherit a gunite pool will notice white stuff in the skimmer of a gunite pool. This is usually some type of pool putty or two part epoxy that is added to the skimmer to help close up leaks that may develop over time and with ground movement. If the ground shifts again after the putty is put in, it may crack and need to be patched, or in this case taken out and replaced.
