You know you have an iron issue when your skimmer looks like this:

This orange skimmer indicates a high presence of iron in the source (well) water used to fill this pool. To minimize liner staining the homeowner puts the hose directly into the skimmer. They also use FerriTabs with their sand filter to remove the iron from the water where it spits out the backwash line.
