Hi,
I have a Doughboy 24×16 above ground pool with a depth of 52″. The liner has a leak, so we want to replace it and go deeper. Pool vendor is saying they can only install a liner to 5-5.5′ and Doughboy makes expandable liners to 8′. Should I find another installer or is mine being truthful that we can’t go that deep?
Thank-you.
There are several variables that would need to be addressed – what is your soil type, and is excavating the extra depth going to be easy? Where to put the excavated dirt, how to remove it safely from the pool without damaging anything, and how are you going to reform the bottom to take a new liner are a few considerations. Can it be done, yes. At least perhaps get a second opinion and find out what it would really take to do. The first company may be a liner installer only and not have the knowledge or resources to take on this type of change. Good luck!
