When do I apply FerriTabs in a new pool?

1.37K views

Hi there! We live on a farm in Kansas and just purchased a 26 ft. intex above ground pool. We have super crazy rusty well water. We are just filling our pool for the first time. My question to you is…when do I apply the ferritabs? Do I first “open-up” our pool with a starter kit (shock it) and then apply the ferritabs afterwards? Or should I apply them before we place any chemicals in?

Add the ferritabs before you add any other chemicals and let the filter run for about 24 hours. Then clean the filter – repeat if the water still looks like it has iron, and start with the chlorine after the iron is trapped by the filter.

Good luck!
