I had a liner replacement done yesterday.
The workers left the old liner bottom in place. When I asked them why, they said that the pool bottom was sand ( it didn’t look like sand to me) and removing the liner would make a lot more work to fix.
Is this something that you have come across or have done?

HI, Yes, in a sand bottom pool we also leave the old liner underneath. It helps maintain the bottom shape. If you pull it out and have any groundwater or rain it washes out, then you are starting shaping from 0 – no fun to do and much more labor intensive/expensive to remedy. They did it right.
