Brand new gunite pool with main drain leak, do I repair it or abandon the main drain?

I have a brand new gunite pool, they never pressure tested the lines after the plaster was done and immediately put water in and turned the filter on. I wake up the next morning and 4” of water is gone. They perform pressure tests on all lines and main drain line fails. We plugged the main drain and have been using the pool with the two skimmers only for about a month. Circulation seems ok and pool always looks very clean. It’s about 22,000 gallons, I have all Pentair equipment, 1.5hp variable speed pump, with a Pentair cartridge filter. I am waiting for the leak detection company to come in and find exactly where it is but we believe it’s inside the shell since there was no sign of water in my yard and I lost about 4000 gallons of water. If the leak is inside the gunite shell (was shot in October) do I cut into it to repair it or do I abandon the main drain? I am leaning towards abandoning it but then a second question pops up and if I’m abandoning it anyway do I let them attempt an epoxy fix on the crack? I realize this isn’t considered a permanent fix but the builder asked me so I owe him an answer. Thanks in advance, your opinion means a lot to me and I really enjoy all of your content.
