Flow Light Red and Green Pentair Intellichlor IC40 – 6000-8000 hours used

Hi! Our flow light is flashing red and green for our Pentair Intellichlor IC40. Our pool company said to test the hours used and it registered at 60% = 6000-8000 hours used (per our guy).
I think our “guy” sold us a used cell… it was manufactured in 2017 and he installed in summer late 2019.
We only run our pool for 4 solid months, about 12 hours per day = 1440 hours per year x 3.5 seasons… = total 5000-ish hours.
He is telling us we need a new one (again). Is this the issue (not many hours left, cell is dying), or is there something else that can be done?

Thanks!

Did you check your flow first? Make sure the filter isn’t in need of service, and nothing is stuck in the impeller of the pump etc. – and if the issue persists yes, swap out the cell. If the new cell works properly you know it was time to swap. If  you experience similar issues, then the rest of the equipment may need to be addressed.

The 10,000 hours is a guide – some cells last longer, some shorter depending on each unique pool situation. It’s not uncommon for a cell to sit in a box on a shelf before it is installed, so the manufacture date wouldn’t be too concerning to us.
