Green water

There are no metals in the water, and chemicals are balanced, yet water is green. Was clear, vacuumed, and within hours, turned green. Put in liquid chlorine, and nothing. Chlorine level did not register, however Ph was low. Added Ph, put in more liquid chlorine, still nothing. After adding more chlorine, everything now is balanced, yet problem continues. Even used flocculent which did nothing. Any other options, other than replacing the water?

Algae won’t grow in water that has extremely low pH and alkalinity. If the water is a dull metallic looking green I’d suspect low pH and alkalinity and you’d need to get those levels up – along with checking your calcium hardness. If water is a fluorescent green it’s often high pH and alkalinity, and the algae green comes in several shades.

The hint of green in this pool is metals (iron) coming out of solution.
