Removing iron stains before using Ferri Tabs

I topped off my pool with quite a bit of well water and because the iron oxidized when I added chlorine, I ended up with green tinted, cloudy water. I used ascorbic acid to remove the stains, used flocculant to drop the particles and vacuumed to waste. I ordered FerriTabs to remove the iron from the water. I saw under the directions that I need to have measurable chlorine in the water before adding the tabs. I am thinking that the stains will reappear when I add chlorine. Will I use the FerriTabs, the remove stains again and then add another round of FerriTabs? I have a 40,000 gallon vinyl lined salt water inground pool. The pool was mainly filled with city water (7 days of 24 hour a day filling) but I topped off using well water for about 12 hours.

You can add FerriTabs with little or no chlorine in the water and they should still work as they are supposed to. They are a pretty easy product to use with a wide success rate.
