I have a white very sticky substance that builds up on the waterline of my indoor pool. I thought it might be white water mold but everything I’ve read on it describes it as slimy and looks like tissue paper floating in the water.
I’ve seen nothing floating in the water and this is definitely not slimy, It is STICKY. Like one of those sticky mouse traps.
In ground, Indoor, 8000 gal fiberglass pool. I use only chlorine and acid to balance. No algae. Water is crystal clear. FC, CC PH and alkalinity are right in the middle of suggested range.
Anyone know what this might be?
Depending on how much use the pool is getting and by who it could be some bather products such as hair spray, lotions etc. If it can be removed with a magic eraser it’s likely just a buildup of some sort. You don’t say which type of chlorine you use, some chlorine tablets have strange fillers in them that have caused gunking and sticking in automatic chlorine feeders, that is the only other reference I can think of.
If you have an endless pool setup they used vegetable oil to run, if you have any leaks or issues with that it could be another possibility.
