white powder

Hi, Appreciate any help on this.

Have vinyl pool. 20k gallons. Salt water Pentair sand filter. After opening, shocked it with HTH HERE. I trippled shock it, then I tried to dissolve in water and then broadcast, but not all got dissolved and just throw in pool.

Pump has been running for few days, but now I see white powdery kindda like flakes on top that seems to dissolve when I stir the water. Pictures below.

Question is: What is this white powder / flakes? Does it pose any danger for swimming and and how I can get rid of it. THANKS

The flakes could be an additive used in the manufacture of the chlorine shock you used. They are most likely safe enough for swimming, but if you can direct your return jets to get the water flowing through your skimmer more they should be able to get trapped by the filter. If this doesn’t work, you may need to double check your filter (when is the last time the sand was changed)? You can also add a clarifier like SeaKlear to the water. This will allow the filter to work a bit better at capturing debris and clearing up the water. It would also be a good idea to take a water sample into your local pool place and get readings for pH, alkalinity and calcium hardness, as all of those can contribute to scale forming.
