We are installing our pool in May and part of this is a 6ft tanning ledge. I am getting concerned that my 90lbs golden retriever will tear the vinyl ledge. Would there be a spray I can coat the ledge?

There is not a coating you can put over a liner. I also have golden retrievers that swim in the pool – and I have a love seat that is vinyl covered. Just teach the dog how to get into and out of the water safely – and it should be fine. What you don’t want is a dog that goes into panic mode and scratches at the wall or the floor of the pool. With a little supervision and teaching them what to do you’ll likely have many years of swimming with your dog.
When it comes to chemicals though, one dog = 50-80 people in the pool so you’ll use a lot more chlorine than if you have just people swimming, and you will need to clean your filter often. It tends to be worth it though…
