I have a 7000 gallon in ground pool. Which would would use the least amount of energy a 3/4 hp pump motor or 1.5 hp variable speed pump?

Currently have a 1.5 hp pool pump that uses roughly 1300 watts a month if left on continuously.

Really want to get that down to the bare minimum.
