All Tile Pool Better?

Hi There,

First, I’m so appreciative of your videos! Sharing knowledge is one of the major benefits of the internet, and it’s possible because of generous people like you 🙂

I’m hoping to renovate the finish and tile of my gunite pool in southern California. I’ve watcher your videos about the different finishes (marble, quartz, pebble, eco, etc.). However, I’m specifically interested in your take on an “all tile” pool. Especially if I use epoxy grout, it seems like it would be similar to pebble in durability, but maybe not?

1. Is an “all tile” pool better than pebble tec?
2. How long will an “all tile” pool last? (I’ve heard some people say 75 years, and other say 20, so I’m kind of at a loss).

Extra questions
3. If I hired someone to chip out the existing plaster and skim the walls and floor to make them “true,” is this a job an avid DIYer could/should tackle? (I’ve redone multiple houses, and, at least in comparison, the tiling seems similar to a big shower. But maybe I’m just being prideful?)
4. If someone did an “all tile” pool, would you recommend redguard or other water proofing be applied to the gunite (in ground pool)?

So thankful for you considering the questions!
