I was told to put the sock with stabilizer in the basket closest to the pump… Now I’m missing the sock. I now realize they didn’t mean the pump basket. As much of an idiot I feel like, now I don’t know what to do. Please help..

It probably went through and got stuck in the filter. You can open up the filter and see if you can locate it – as long as it’s not stuck in the pump impeller. It may be wise to call a professional out.
