Filling a newly painted pool

Will try to makes this short. Had a pool restoration company come in to repair: re-plaster (one spot), acid scrub, prime, then repaint our pool from white to blue. They have turned out to be very unreliable (too many examples to name at this time). Main ones include: spots of white still seen in place along side of pool; white showing up where they’ over-taped’ places and now have white showing on edges; roller tracks are seen on bottom of pool that shows two different tones of blue. We started filling the pool but stopped with half of bottom of pool in water (on a Friday). They say they are coming at beginning of week to fix but I’m not convinced they will show up soon. Questions: 1) Can they easily fix the problems mentioned above through ‘touch-up work’ like they said they could?; 2) How long can we wait to fill the pool completely to prevent any damage to the plaster? Thank you!

A pool should be full of water whenever possible. We’ve found that the issues you are experiencing with paint are pretty common. It’s very difficult to avoid roller tracks and matching paint is almost impossible if it’s done over several days. If you don’t see them back at the beginning of the week I’d say fill the pool. Its easier to live with a cosmetic imperfection than risk something more substantial happening to the pool itself.
