Pool green and not clearing

We have an inground pool, approximately 14,000 L.

After opening it, the water is tinged green and we are seeing some staining on the plastic components (filters and skimmer opening)

The staining is a tan/reddish color.  All of our chemicals are balanced, levels are good.

We shocked the pool, and still have had no luck clearing it. We had red algae last year, but that looked different than the staining we are seeing now.

Last year, the red algae stains were clinging to the side of the pool liner. That is not the case this year.

I have just treated it with an algicide (hth algae guard 30) if this doesn’t work, we are kind of at a loss. Thinking it could possibly be metals? However, we did have a lot of pollen this spring

Any advice would be appreciated

Chlorine takes care of organic staining and ascorbic acid takes  care of metallic staining. Once the ascorbic acid removes stains from surfaces (which it will do if it is metal based) the metals are back in the water and a filter aid should be used to remove metals from the water. Our suggestions would be Natural Chemistry Stain Free to lift the stains, and FerriTabs to remove from the water if you have a sand filter. SeaKlear also removes minimal metals.
