I was a college student studying Physics when I was introduced to the swimming pool industry. I came home from college for the summer when my brother Rick announced that he had gotten me a job. I was to be a shovel handler for a local swimming pool company in the southeast michigan area. I know, it was a fancy title for a general labor grunt.
I was very good at the shovel handling part but the owner noticed that I had a way with fixing things and rapidly moved me into an assistant service tech role. That lasted roughly 2 months and I was moved then into my own leadership role of runnung my own service crew.
That is where I got my start in the swimming pool business and now it has been 23 years. I’ll share some stories of the journey in upcoming blog posts.
